RetroClassic Schley Bros Original Lightning Bug II (drag racing bug) owned and raced by the Schley Brothers T-shirt.
Celebrate drag racing history with the RetroClassic® Schley Bros Lightning Bug II T-Shirt – an officially approved design honouring one of the most legendary Beetles ever built. RetroClassic® are the only approved company by the Schley Bros to offer authentic Lightning Bug tees, making this a true collector’s piece for drag racing and motorsport enthusiasts.
This premium t-shirt features a gritty graphic representation of Lightning Bug II, the first Bug in the world to achieve a 10-second ¼ mile pass and an 8-second ⅛ mile pass. Remarkably, this was accomplished in 1972 using a 2180cc engine with carburettors running on standard gas station fuel – a performance benchmark so extreme that it rivals modern hypercars. For perspective, the Bugatti Veyron recorded a ¼ mile time of 10.17 seconds.
With photography by Dean Kirsten, the iconic image has been reworked into our signature RetroClassic style, blending raw speed, engineering excellence, and vintage drag racing attitude. Printed on 100% premium cotton, this tee delivers comfort, durability, and undeniable heritage.
